Instead, when I care about the quality, I bring a Logitech Brio and plug it in. I still bought the Spectre despite the typically weak camera because there aren't many laptops with substantially better ones at the moment and those tend to be higher end specialized rigs that aren't thin and light nor convertible 2 in 1s. I care a lot about it because I video conf all the time. Most mainstream reviews don't focus much on cameras in laptops like they do for phones, though the good nerd sites do. I assume this is because their marketing data says most IT depts don't have cam quality as a requirement. The manufacturers seem to not invest much in the hardware. The issue is more the hardware than the software. In general, laptop webcams suck because they have to be thin and fit in the bezel with a small hole.
